Install MovieBox on Fire Stick. Sideload in under 6 minutes.

MovieBox is not on the Amazon Appstore, so installing it on a Fire Stick or Fire TV takes one sideload via the Downloader app. Follow the 6 steps below — they work on every Fire Stick model from the 1st gen all the way through the 4K Max and the Fire TV Cube.

This guide also fixes the two most common errors people hit: the Fire TV "app not installed" dead-end and the Fire Stick "app disabled" popup.

Step-by-step

Install in 6 steps.

  1. 1

Enable Apps from Unknown Sources on Fire Stick

From the Fire Stick home screen go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps. Turn the switch ON for the Downloader app (install it first from the Amazon Appstore if you do not have it).

  2. 2

Open Downloader and enter the MovieBox URL

Launch Downloader, stay on the "Home" tab and type the direct MovieBox APK URL into the URL box. Press Go — Downloader will fetch the installer straight to your Fire Stick.

  3. 3

Confirm the download is a MovieBox .apk file

Wait for the progress bar to finish. Downloader will show a file name ending in .apk — this is the MovieBox installer. If the file is under 1 MB the download failed: check your Wi-Fi and retry.

  4. 4

Tap Install when the prompt appears

Fire OS will show a permissions screen — scroll through and tap Install in the bottom-right corner. Installation takes 15-30 seconds depending on your Fire Stick model.

  5. 5

Delete the APK to reclaim storage

After installation, Downloader asks "Delete". Tap Delete twice to remove the installer file — MovieBox is now in your apps list and the APK is no longer needed.

  6. 6

Launch MovieBox from Your Apps & Channels

Press the Fire Stick Home button, scroll down to "Your Apps & Channels", and you will find MovieBox in the recently-added row. Long-press it to pin it to the top row for quick access.

FAQ

Common questions.

Why does MovieBox show an "app disabled" popup on my Fire Stick?

The popup appears when Amazon pushes a compatibility check against sideloaded apps. Close MovieBox from Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Force Stop, then disable "Collect App Usage Data" under Preferences → Privacy Settings. Reopen MovieBox and the popup stops triggering.

I keep getting "app not installed" on my Fire TV. How do I fix it?

This usually means a previous MovieBox install left leftovers. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → MovieBox → Uninstall. Then restart your Fire TV (unplug power for 10 seconds), re-download the APK via Downloader and try installing again.

Is MovieBox safe on Fire Stick?

Yes, when installed from the official APK on this site. The build is publisher-signed and scanned before upload. Avoid third-party "modded" MovieBox APKs circulated on Telegram — they often bundle trackers.

Does MovieBox work on older Fire Stick models?

Yes, but we recommend using an older MovieBox build (v2.0.83) for first- and second-gen Fire Sticks — the newer player assumes more RAM. Grab it from our old version MovieBox page.

Can I use a remote to navigate MovieBox on Fire Stick?

Yes. The app auto-adapts to the Fire Stick remote. D-pad moves between titles, center button plays, menu button opens the context menu. No mouse toggle needed.
